Title: Marta
Home: Currently, NYC. Before that, Toronto, CA. Before that, Vancouver, CA. From, Hong Kong.

Where was the final image from this photoshoot featured?

On my Instagram page.

Give us a bit of background on the photoshoot concept.

I first met Marta on a job in LA and thought she was super fun to work with. So I asked her to shoot some portraits next time she was in NY. These were shot on 2 different days, one right after she had a haircut.

Why did you/your client choose the final image compared to the outtakes?

The finals and outtakes show both sides of Marta, so I think it just depends which side the viewer wants to see.

Any cheeky moments during this photoshoot that you'd be willing to share?

I borrowed my friend’s film camera and almost broke the shutter by shooting at too fast a shutter speed. Whoops!

Shed some light on how you got involved in photography.

To put it nicely, my friend back in high school “made me” take the class with him so he wouldn’t be by himself. I took and developed my first roll of black and white film and I fell in love with it.

What’s it like being on set with you?

Hopefully it’s a pleasant one haha!

Do you prefer photographing with a big or small team on set?

Small team, it’s just simpler.

Describe your ideal photoshoot.

When everything just clicks and all the elements fall into place accordingly.

What makes a photograph special, in your opinion?

More and more I think it’s less about the technical aspect and more about the mood and emotion an image portrays.

Express what photography means to you.

The ability the freeze that special moment in time.

Do you photograph full-time? If not, what pays the bills?

Yup.

Instagram and photography...need we say more? Give us your two cents.

I think it’s a great platform to share and discover.

Do you have any suggestions to budding photographers out there?

Have fun and experiment.

Any additional info you'd like to share about yourself and/or your photography?

I love to eat, so perhaps it’s time to get into food photography...

We obviously believe this outtakes concept is brilliant, but why do you think it's important for outtake photographs to be promoted in the industry?

Photography should be fun at heart. Sometimes we take things too seriously.

Anything you're working towards with your next move in photography?

Yes, I’m working on a few ongoing projects. One is call #legsanywhere and you can find it on Instagram. It’s just legs and different locations. I think it’s funny.

Share a quote you live by.

I'm a big believer in winging it. I'm a big believer that you're never going to find a perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I'm always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary.
